It's the art show time of the year

Fall is fast approaching, as evidenced by the changing color of the leaves.
If you are going to catch some fall color up north, another friends of mine is having an art show/talk at the Ava Gallery, at 11 Bank Street, Lebanon, NH 03766. http://www.avagallery.org/
Hope you will enjoy it!

The burning question

The one thing that really intrigues me is that in every generation there is a cultural movement that raises up against “the materialism and capitalism”, and its group of intellectuals and activists act as writers and artists. Yet “the materialism and capitalism” are the mundane everyday life of the ordinary people. Does art has to be an act of moving away from everyday life? Moreover, such culture movement will only gain recognition by being appreciated by the general public, and as a result, the artists becomes rich and famous thanks to the materialism and capitalism that they are so despised of.

These love-hate relationship between art and materialism/capitalism eludes me.
